Die Surfer und Skateboarder von Dogtown waren früher als aggressive, antisoziale Schulversager aus prekären Verhältnissen bekannt. Heute erobern echte Hunde unterschiedlichster Rassen und sozialer Herkunft Venice Beach. Die Vierbeiner in diesem Buch sind häufig Teil der Skateboarding- Kultur.
