Bemerkenswerte Entwicklungen und die Bedeutung der Molekularbiologie und Biotechnologie für das Wohlergehen des Menschen haben eine große Zahl von Talenten angezogen, die ihre Karriere in diesem Bereich fortsetzen wollen. Die Banasthali-Universität, Rajasthan, Indien, hat im Rahmen ihrer Jubiläumsfeierlichkeiten zum 25-jährigen Bestehen ihrer Universität vom 19. bis 21. Oktober 2008 eine Internationale Konferenz über Molekularbiologie und Biotechnologie (ICMBB-2008) organisiert. Die Konferenz erhielt eine überwältigende Resonanz und wurde von mehr als 500 Teilnehmern weltweit besucht, darunter Delegierte nicht nur aus Indien, sondern auch aus den USA, Japan, Australien, Österreich, Belgien, Kanada, Nigeria usw. Insgesamt wurden 18 technische Sitzungen, darunter zwei Postersitzungen, organisiert. Diese Sitzungen umfassten 14 Hauptvorträge, etwa 50 mündliche Präsentationen und über 100 Poster. Aufgrund der Qualität und des Interesses der Zuhörer wurden nur wenige Vorträge/Artikel in voller Länge sowohl von etablierten als auch von angehenden Wissenschaftlern eingeladen, um den vorliegenden Tagungsband zusammenzustellen. Wir haben versucht, verschiedene Aspekte der Biotechnologie während der Konferenz abzudecken, um den Tagungsband für breitere Gruppen von Biologen attraktiv und interessant zu gestalten.

Die genetische Vielfalt spielt eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Verbesserung von Pflanzen im Genomik-Zeitalter. Die Untersuchung von Syzygium cumini, einem vielseitigen, immergrünen Baum, der in tropischen Regionen gedeiht und zur Behandlung von Diabetes verwendet wird, steht im Mittelpunkt dieser Arbeit. Die genetische Struktur der Populationen wird analysiert, wobei dominante Marker wie RAPD und ISSR zur Anwendung kommen. Zudem werden phytochemische Variationen betrachtet, um das Keimplasma zu authentifizieren und die biologische Vielfalt zu bewerten.

It is also observed that the fatalities rate is much higher in underground mines than that of open cast mines. Out of the many factors one of the major causes of the accident is the fire.
