    • This tenth volume features seven treatises that illustrate Perkins's belief in the gospel's influence on all aspects of life through Scripture. It begins with a discussion on the reign of faith in Christians' hearts, guiding them to avoid sin and pursue God's will. The treatise on vocations explains how Christians are called to express their faith in their societal roles. The concept of vocation extends to family life in the treatise on erecting and ordering a family. The calling of the ministry addresses the responsibilities and honor of church ministers, while the art of prophesying provides guidance on effective preaching. Christian equity emphasizes the importance of justice and peace in families, churches, and society. The volume concludes with a treatise on dying well, highlighting faith's significance at life's end. The Works of William Perkins addresses a significant gap in Reformed and Puritan theology. Although Perkins is primarily recognized for his writings on predestination, he also authored extensively on various topics. His works span over two thousand pages in three folio volumes and were frequently reprinted after his death. However, his complete works have not been published since the mid-seventeenth century. This modern edition includes four volumes of his Scripture expositions, three volumes of doctrinal and polemical treatises, and three volumes of practical writings.

This ninth volume brings together nine of Perkins's lesser known practical treatises and, by so doing, introduces the reader to important facets of his religion of the heart. The Works of William Perkins fills a major gap in Reformed and Puritan theology. Though Perkins is best known today for his writings on predestination, he also wrote prolifically on many subjects. His works filled over two thousand large pages of small print in three folio volumes and were reprinted several times in the decades after his death. His complete works, however, have not been in print since the mid-seventeenth century.
