During World War II, Ireland maintained neutrality, but a faction opposed to the government, including the IRA, plotted to support Hitler's invasion of Britain, creating the risk of British forces facing battles on two fronts. This plan, known as 'Plan Kathleen,' garnered interest from top Nazi leaders like Himmler. However, Winston Churchill was determined to thwart any such intentions. He established the SOE (Secret Operations Executive), dubbed 'The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare,' to conduct covert missions aimed at identifying and neutralizing threats. The narrative centers on Flight Lieutenant Jonny Munroe, an ace Spitfire pilot stationed at RAF Tangmere in West Sussex. His life takes an unexpected turn when he is assigned to support the SOE after a Luftwaffe pilot escapes in a stolen Hurricane, resulting in the death of a beloved ground crew engineer. This incident provokes significant outrage within the RAF and War Office. The German pilot, having escaped without uniform, was not protected by the Geneva Convention. Churchill, initially furious, recognized an opportunity to boost public morale amid fears of a Nazi invasion. He ordered the capture of the German pilot to ensure he would face justice at the Old Bailey for murder, aiming to rally the British public during a time of uncertainty.
