Bruce Manning Metzger war ein amerikanischer Bibelwissenschaftler und Textkritiker, der lange Jahre als Professor am Princeton Theological Seminary tätig war. Er war als Bibelleser und Mitglied von Leitungsgremien wichtiger Bibelgesellschaften tätig und widmete seine Karriere dem Studium des Griechischen, des Neuen Testaments und seiner Textkritik. Metzgers umfangreiche Schriften machten ihn zu einem der einflussreichsten neutestamentlichen Gelehrten des 20. Jahrhunderts.
