This open access book shares impact stories from various value chain actors involved in the Tropical Legumes (TL) projects over the past twelve years. Led by ICRISAT and supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), the projects (TLI, TLII, TLIII) were implemented in collaboration with CIAT, IITA, and National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS) partners in Sub-Saharan Africa and India. The initiative focused on developing improved cultivars of common bean, cowpea, chickpea, and groundnut, providing seeds to smallholders in BMGF-focus areas while enhancing NARS and CGIAR's breeding programs and seed platforms. The book compiles experiences from diverse actors within the grain legume value chains, particularly in Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, and Ghana. Stakeholders, including national agricultural research institutes, NGOs, seed companies, agro-dealers, and farmers, share their insights from participating in this decade-long development effort. The narratives highlight the collective impact on communities and the empowerment of individuals, especially women, in agricultural development. This compilation serves as a valuable resource for development workers, technical staff, and project managers, offering lessons learned and best practices from the Tropical Legumes projects.
