Zur eisenzeitlichen Besiedlung des Dürrnberges bei Hallein

Salzminen und Gräberfelder [Ha C bis LT C] des Dürrnberges bei Salzburg sind bekannt, Siedlungsfunde, hauptsächlich Keramik, werden hier erstmals systematisch vorgelegt. Mit einer Spanne von Ha D [evtl. Ha C] bis LT D2 bildet sie den dauerhaftesten Komplex der Epoche. Es folgt eine Phase von 50 n. Chr. bis ins 2. Jh. Die Keramikstudie berücksichtigt Veränderungen der Gefäßform, Technik und Dekoration, wichtig sind eiförmige Töpfe und Graphittonware. Die Chronologie beruht auf Merkmalskombination und -verbreitung, festdatierten Funden, Grabfunden und Material anderer Siedlungen. Siedelstellen und Besiedlungsintensität variieren im Laufe der Zeit, einzig der Dürrnberggipfel bleibt stetig besiedelt. Die Gräberfelder liegen am Rande der Siedlungen und wandern mit. Kleinfunde aus Glas, Sapropelit oder Metall wurden vor Ort produziert, ebenso Nahrung, Textilien und Holzgerät. Kontakte im Alpenraum, nach Bayern, Böhmen und Germanien sind belegt. Die absolute Chronologie der Siedlungen steht im Gegensatz zur Gräberchronologie im Einklang mit den C14-Daten und Dendrodaten aus den Salzminen und bestätigt diese in ihrer Richtigkeit. The salt-mines and cemeteries [Ha C to LT C] from the Dürrnberg nearby Salzburg are well known, settlement finds are systematically presented for the first time. Dating from Ha D [possibly Ha C] to LT D2 they constitute the longest lasting complex of their epoch. Occupation reoccurs from A. D. 50 to the 2nd century. The pottery typology considers the changes in shape, technique and decoration, emphasising egg-shaped pots and vessels of graphite clay. The chronology is based on combination and distribution of patterns, dated small finds, graves and material from other settlements. The places and intensity of occupation vary through the centuries, only the central elevation remaining permanently occupied. The cemeteries lie on the edges of the settlements, shifting as they shift. Objects made of glass, sapropelite and metal were produced on site, as were food, textiles and wooden items. It is possible to demonstrate connexions with the Alpine Region, Bavaria, Bohemia and Germanic territories. The absolute dates coincide with C14- and dendro-dates from the salt-mines, confirming these despite incongruous datings from graves.
