"Where the Rain Falls" project, case study: Viet Nam

The Where the Rain Falls project investigates how changes in rainfall interact with societies. Findings from all case studies confirm that rainfall variability and food insecurity are key drivers for human mobility. The Viet Nam case study was conducted in Dong Thap Province, Thap Muoi District. The study found that poor, landless and less-scarce households in the study area are most vulnerable to the adverse effect of changing rainfall patterns and flood regimes. Migration can be a risk management strategy in the short-run, if households face livelihood difficulties.
