The present book consists of four papers that present new theories regarding the mind and brain relationship. The theories are grounded on the remarkable similarity and analogy between mental and chemical processes, such as these are suggested by S. Freud and in thermodynamics, resp. Freud, in his metapsychology, has combined meaning and energy in what is called cathected images. There has been doubts about the existence of this type of mental energy. Does it exist? The last paper in the book deals with this question, and a mathematical proof of its existence is proposed based on information theory and entropy. The major intention of the book is to find a compromise between human and natural science, and both dualist and physicalist viewpoints are addressed. How the mind influences the brain is elaborated by introducing a novel theory.
