In 2033, the world lies in ruins, with humanity nearly extinct and cities rendered uninhabitable by radiation. Survivors recall the past glory of humankind, but civilization has faded into myth. Over two decades have passed since the last plane took off, leaving rusted railways leading to emptiness and airwaves filled with a haunting silence. New life-forms, mutated by radiation, now dominate the earth, marking the end of mankind's reign. A few thousand survivors inhabit the Moscow Metro, the largest air-raid shelter ever constructed, where stations have transformed into mini-statelets united by ideas, religions, and the necessity of survival. In this bleak world devoid of dreams and hopes, instinct prevails. VDNKh, the northernmost inhabited station, remains secure but faces a new and terrible threat. Artyom, a young resident of VDNKh, is tasked with a perilous journey to the heart of the Metro, to the legendary Polis. His mission: to warn others of the impending danger and seek help. The fate of his station, the entire Metro, and perhaps humanity itself rests on his shoulders.
