Set in a remote fishing village in Japan, a nine-year-old boy named Isaku navigates the harsh realities of poverty and survival. The villagers resort to luring ships to their doom, slaughtering crews to claim valuable cargo. When a shipwreck occurs, Isaku discovers that its contents hold a terrifying secret. This Gothic tale explores themes of fate and retribution, showcasing the dark choices people make in desperate circumstances. It marks the English debut of acclaimed Japanese writer Yoshimura.
