It's a beautiful morning, barely a cloud in a clear blue sky. Plans for the day are being made, barbie on the patio, day at the beach; but how do you plan for the end of the world? Our sun is going super nova, wiping out all life on Earth. Don Davies, surgically altered by an alien race, must, in their magnificent starship, Searcher, with a computer called "Hope", find a new home for the aliens and the few people of Earth that Don has saved.
