Big Sur

Exploring themes of isolation and the struggle with fame, the narrative follows Jack Duluoz, a fictional alter-ego of Kerouac, during his retreats to a cabin in Big Sur. As he grapples with alcoholism and mental decline, Duluoz seeks solace in solitude and a tumultuous relationship with Billie, complicating his attempts to find peace. The book also features a free-verse poem reflecting on the Pacific Ocean, enriching the narrative's connection to the natural landscape. A film adaptation was released in 2013.
