In October 1890 London, crime scene photographer Sarah Bain is thrilled to marry Detective Sergeant Barrett, but their wedding takes a dark turn when a stabbing victim is found in the church crypt. Newlyweds Sarah and Barrett, along with friends Lord Hugh Staunton and Mick O'Reilly, dive into the investigation of the deceased, Charles Firth, known for his "spirit photography." Her long-lost father becomes the prime suspect in a cold-case murder, revealing that even the most resolute skeptic can be haunted by their past.
