Ruth Sawyer, an acclaimed American storyteller, began her literary journey with adult fiction before transitioning to children's literature. Her notable work, Roller Skates, earned the 1937 Newbery Medal, while she later received the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award for her contributions to the genre.
