Set in the pre-Civil War South, this dark tale is based on a true story. Elizabeth Dale Gibbons Flanagan Jeffries High Brown Rout, a beautiful and power-hungry woman from Coastal Maryland, would stop at nothing to amass her fortune, including murder. Her father, Adam Dale, an ambitious Aristocratic Patriot, formed a battalion of young boys to fight for American Independence at just 14. For his service, he received 640 acres of land in Tennessee, where he founded Liberty and later led soldiers under Andrew Jackson in the War of 1812. Meanwhile, his daughter was busy conning her first husband, minister Samuel Gibbons, from a wealthy family. When her plans for wealth stalled, she accused him of infidelity and eliminated him, marking the start of her murderous quest for riches. In 1829, the family moved to Columbia, Tennessee, where her sister, Sarah, married Master Builder Nathan Vaught, further fueling Liz's jealousy. Relocating to Madison County, Alabama, she married Alex Jeffries, a wealthy cotton planter. Desiring a grand mansion on an ancient Indian mound, she clashed with Jeffries over her ambitions. Having mingled with influential figures, including President James K. Polk, Liz's relentless pursuit of wealth and power led her to continue her killing spree. Would even Polk fall victim to her manipulative charms?
