Ausgehend von den Praxis erklärenden Ansätzen der Wissens- und Kultursoziologie stellt sich Philip Roth die Frage, wie und in welcher Form Kreativität möglich ist. Das Ziel der Arbeit ist ein Entwurf von Praxis, in dem Kreativität nicht als Residualkategorie oder gar nicht sondern als integriertes Moment dieser Praxis verstehbar wird. Ausgangspunkt für diese Überlegungen ist dementsprechend eine detaillierte Analyse der die Kontinuität von Praxis verantwortenden Momente. Von besonderer Bedeutung ist hierbei das Zustandekommen von Wirklichkeit in Abhängigkeit von durch Materialität und Routinisierung bestimmter Aufmerksamkeit sowie der Konstitution von Identität und Sinn im sozialen Feld.
