I'm brazilian and I read this book as a kid and loved it. Jorge Amado wrote this book for his son and got released 28 years later. This book explained to me in a lovely and simple way, that love can grow in different circumstances and between different ''beings''. I think it's a great book to start understanding the difference between people (here shown as animals), and the importance of love. Truly amazing.
