Acts of Love and War

Set against the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, the narrative follows Lucy, a young woman yearning for freedom from her oppressive life in England. When her childhood friends, brothers Tom and Jamie, enlist in opposing sides of the conflict, Lucy defies her father to bring them home. Instead, she becomes a Quaker volunteer, witnessing the war's devastating impact on civilians, particularly children.
