The Red One

The narrative unfolds through the eyes of Bassett, an English scientist whose butterfly-collecting expedition leads him into the heart of the Solomon Islands jungle. Captured by a cannibal tribe, he is rescued by a native woman and introduced to her community's intriguing beliefs, centered around a mysterious extraterrestrial entity known as the "Red One." As Bassett becomes increasingly captivated by this giant red sphere and the tribe's rituals, he faces peril from cannibalism, bounty hunters, and moral dilemmas, all while navigating the dangers of the jungle.
