The Solomon Islands, an archipelagic state in the southwest Pacific, consists of around 1,000 islands with a diverse population of approximately 599,500 people, predominantly Melanesian. The capital, Honiara, is on Guadalcanal, the largest island. The region is rich in linguistic diversity, featuring 63 distinct languages, with English as the official language.
